Tile directly on drywall?

We are in the process of a kitchen renovation and will be tiling between the counter cabinets and the upper cabinets, approximately 60 cm along the entire kitchen. We have framed (cc 60 cm) and put up regular gypsum boards, 13 mm thick. Can tiles be directly applied to the gypsum or does it need to be pre-treated/painted in some way?

It's fine to tile directly

It's never wrong to use a little primer (for example, take the brand you buy fix from) but otherwise, just go ahead. Joints between plasterboards you fill with fix.

I always use primer so the paper doesn't absorb so quickly.
