This weekend, I dug up our swing set/carpet beating stand, which is made of old iron pipes with some form of coating because they don't rust. Substantial items, probably 7-8 cm thick pipes threaded together with angle fittings. The pipes were inserted into concrete tubes, the kind used for joints, so there's a base at the bottom. This has then been cast again. Very heavy but stable.
Now I have dug new holes where I plan to move it. But then I started to wonder. I would like to have one made of wood instead. Can't I just cast impregnated posts into my new holes and place a beam between them as a swing set? Will it be durable?
