Calculated for some LT beams and found the minimum required bearing length.

Couldn't find the exact measurement, can someone explain?

How much support (span length * beam width) the beam needs to avoid deformation.
It also applies that the foundation can handle this load...

  • Diagram showing beam support requirements with labeled dimensions: 'pelarlast' and 'upplagslängd', related to load and support length.
So for example the LT beam at 90x270 that I have looked at and which an LT column at 90x90 works for, does it only need to rest on the bearing length of the column? (in this case 45 mm, i.e., on half of the column)

Yes, with respect to the load across the fibers, that is the length required. However, the specified bearing length is the absolute minimum dimension required.

In reality, such a beam is always placed on the entire post considering load eccentricity, fastenings, and to have some extra safety in the back pocket.
