Hello
I have two oaks on my property that unfortunately need to be felled. I plan to saw the logs into beams with my chainsaw and Logosol chainsaw jig. I have done this once before, which resulted in an approximately 4-meter-long oak beam bench along the garage.
My question is whether there is an appropriate length I should have the arborist cut the logs to. It would be unfortunate if I had them cut into, for example, 2.5 m lengths and then it turns out they can't be used for beams because they need to be at least 3 m long. I just made up the example.
What do you think?
One wants to salvage the material as much as possible from such a noble tree.
Best regards,
Fredrik

In general, one could say that the longer the better, at least up to 5-6 m if the logs are straight; otherwise, it's better to cut them so that you get reasonably straight pieces.

Thanks for the answer
I should have realized that now that you mention it!
Best regards
Fredrik
