The plan is to tile above the countertop and behind the stove up to the ceiling. Behind the stove is a chimney breast I plastered, and to the left behind the countertop is particle board.
I plastered it to align with a 6mm gypsum board on the particle board as a base for tiling. Is there a risk of cracks at the seam between the chimney breast and particle board/gypsum?
There were tiles there before, directly on the particle board and on the chimney breast that hadn't cracked in 40 years. But maybe it's unwise to take the chance that it will work again?

Three options I can think of
-6mm plasterboard on chipboard, tile on plasterboard and plaster with an open joint under tile between plasterboard/plaster.
-Same as above but with a taped joint using paper tape.
-6mm plasterboard on chipboard and then an additional layer of 6mm plasterboard on the entire surface to be tiled.

I'm leaning towards option 2 right now. If paper tape works against cracks on painted plasterboard walls, it should work under tiles too, I think.
For option 3, what is the easiest way to attach the plasterboard to plaster? Do you need to tape between the plasterboards as well?
