Studs for 15cm thick interior wall
Hello,
I have a wall opening that I want to close up (i.e., build a wall). The existing (concrete) wall is 15cm thick. How do I best build an interior wall that should be 15cm?
I was thinking: plasterboard - OSB - stud - OSB - plasterboard (12.5mm + 15mm + 95mm + 15mm + 12.5mm). I planned to mount the studs with nail plugs 8x100mm.
Does that sound good?
Thanks in advance,
Ibbe

Sounds like a good plan, just remember that you need to cover the seam between the concrete wall and your new wall with something, e.g., microlit otherwise it will crack.M maestroz said:Hey,

Thanks for the quick response.Henkan Sundberg said:
I was thinking of using a 50mm fiberglass tape between the concrete and the drywall. (And between all drywall boards.)
Do you think that will work? Or should I buy microlit and cut it to the right size? (Is 50mm enough?)

I assume I attach the microliten with wallpaper paste?Henkan Sundberg said:
Is it okay to spackle the microliten afterward? I understand the idea is to avoid having to do that.. But the other part of the wall is concrete..

Yes, wallpaper paste works well. You spread the filler on the edge of the microlite so that it becomes even with the concrete and the new wall. However, you don't need to fill the fabric itself; you can just paint it when you are satisfied with the filling.M maestroz said:
OK, Thanks!Henkan Sundberg said:
I attach a picture of the wall.. OSB and drywall are mounted.
The next step then would be (if I understand correctly)
1. Microlit with wallpaper adhesive
2. Putty the joints between the drywall sheets and between the drywall and the concrete wall
3. Putty all concrete walls
4. Use wallpaper primer on the existing drywall I have where the wallpaper refuses to come off
?
Or should I putty the drywall joints first and lay paper tape... And then apply the microlit.?

I would do it like this:
1. Putty and apply tape on the joints between the gypsum according to the normal routine. You can glue the paper tapes with wall fabric glue, works like a charm.
2. Putty the joint between gypsum and concrete so it is smooth and without irregularities there.
3. Microlit with wall fabric glue over the joint between concrete and gypsum
4. Putty the joints on the microlit, since it builds a few millimeters, you need to putty them.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to handle the gypsum where the wallpaper won't come off, so I don't dare to give any advice on that.
I hope the answer helps, feel free to ask again if I'm unclear.
OK. Thanks for the detailed answer. So no strip is needed between the drywall and concrete wall? It's enough to spackle and glue the Microlit then..?Henkan Sundberg said:
