Hello!

I'm planning to apply some gypsum plaster on the walls to get a plastered surface that I can then paint. According to the building supply store, you should use "Stucanet" to reinforce the gypsum plaster if it's going to be applied on, for example, a wooden substrate, and when transitioning from one material to another. For example, if one half of a wall consists of real plaster and the other half of drywall, Stucanet should be used at the transition to avoid cracks.

I understand that reinforcement is needed in the plaster, and I've experimented in a few places and seen what happens if it's not reinforced... ;)

The question is whether another mesh can be used instead of Stucanet? I have lots of chicken wire lying around in varying thicknesses. Would it have the same effect? If it would work, is it better to use fine mesh or coarse mesh?

Would it work with other mesh, like the kind used to build rabbit cages with square holes where the openings are about 2x2 cm?

Or am I just being cheap by not buying the proper stuff, i.e., Stucanet?

*bump*

No one who knows?

Thanks for the link MaZtoR! There was a lot of useful information there!

But if there is someone who has worked with Stucanet, do you think it would work just as well with chicken wire or equivalent?
