Hello forum friends!

Today's surprise on the construction site was these stylish transitions from the door frame to the baseboards that the carpenters installed.

Am I the only one who thinks they are completely facing the wrong way and not dimensioned to fit the thickness of the door frames and baseboards?? :o :o :o

:o Not just the wrong way. They don't seem to fit the trims at all. :P

Completely agree. There doesn't seem to be anything that fits.

They are facing that way so they are not in the way when you open the door ;-)

...and yes, they tend to be thicker/larger than the trim. This is how it looks in my turn-of-the-century apartment:

It definitely harmonizes better with a traditional profile.

Personally, I think ours look completely out of place. Siiiigh. What to do? If we want them replaced, it will cost us extra. And this appearance was not at all what we had in mind/had been shown.

If another appearance that you have accepted has been shown, then that is what applies. If the carpenters then do it differently without consulting you first, they simply have to redo it without costing you any extra.

The blocks are also called "skurkloss" and were traditionally installed to protect the allmogelist when running a scrubbing brush along the wall. The blocks in the pictures above are correctly mounted and dimensioned, but they still look a bit odd against the smooth trim.

Hello!

Another reason they were installed can be traced from the name "skurkloss". It was that when wet scrubbing occurred much more frequently than today, these blocks wore out first and were damaged by the water. What was done was to replace these blocks when they became too unsightly.

Best regards

The profiling is strange. They should be replaced with "regular square" blocks, preferably cut out of MDF board of suitable thickness and with the corners slightly dulled with sandpaper. Mouldings without profile should of course not have blocks with profile! I would not call this execution professional.

We also have those skurklossar (new word for me) but in your picture, the model doesn't seem to fit quite right...?

What happens now, does the carpenter have to redo it or ???

We have the final inspection in a couple of weeks and will bring it up as a point in the minutes. I still think they don't blend in at all. It is misdimensioned so much that it whistles...

The dimension might be okay, but the model looks a bit strange??
