I've started planning with sketches and in my mind to build a 15 square meter shed this summer, which is now allowed without a building permit. I have an area where I plan to build according to measurements 2.6 m x 5.6 m. The only issue before I can start is that I live on a rock and where I intend to build my shed, there is little more than 20-30 cm down to the rock. The question is, what is considered by those knowledgeable here on the forum about placing the shed on concrete blocks instead of piers. It will be a tough job if I have to "drill" into the rock to install piers or pour concrete into the rock. I can dig down to the rock and fill with crushed stone, "road gravel" and the like on top, then place concrete blocks and build joists on these. It is not a windy area, so I'm not afraid it will blow away, but what other pitfalls might there be with building a foundation in this way?

Thanks for any input on this subject as it's the only thing holding me back from starting.

Doesn't it work to drill down some type of beam shoes into the rock that are set with expansion compound or something like that?

If you're going to fill up with macadam, should you not cast retaining walls of some sort so that the fill won't wash away?

I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to set 10-15 cm high foundations and cast the post bases in them?
