I have a custom-built shelf with two sections where the total width is 2 m. Now, I want to remove some shelves to "recess" the TV and thus remove the supporting middle. I'm considering installing 2 steel profiles between the outer sides (one on the outermost and one on the innermost) which would be screwed into the side walls. The total weight of the shelf above and the content (books) is estimated to be around 180 kg.
What dimension of steel profile should I use? See the concept in the image with the profiles in red
If you have other tips/ideas on how to solve the problem, they are also welcome
