Hello
I've been reading a lot now, but I'm still not any wiser about our staircase!!
It creaks and snaps on every step, more or less!!
I've read about screws here and there?? Can't find a single screw for the steps??
So how should I go about making it silent!!?
In the same way as when you removed them, but the other way around
Saw in half and pry with a crowbar? 😄
No seriously...they are embedded in the carriages, you can't really slide them in from underneath or fit them in any way from what I can see in the pictures at least.
How do you install the new stair risers?
Seems difficult...
MDF board in suitable thickness, height = gap between the steps + rebate in the step above, width = gap between the stringers + the depth of the rebate on one side, which is then pressed against the step above and screwed (+glue?) into the back of the lower step?
No, that probably won't work either, it will be difficult to insert the board unless you're willing to leave an uneven edge (= rebate depth) at the bottom.
