I have a steel spiral staircase with steps covered in carpet and a handrail made of plastic-covered flat steel that I would like to refresh. The plastic is cracked and has lost its color after 35 years.
I checked the website of Herrljunga ledstångsfabrik and realized that a spiral-twisted wooden handrail to lay on top of the flat steel costs 1200kr/m+VAT... It will probably be 15000kr for my handrail and railing top rail, and I haven't done anything about the steps yet
Does anyone have tips on something else I can do with the handrail? The flat steel itself is not very attractive as it was intended to be covered with a plastic overlay.
Tips on any cheaper handrail carpenters?
