Hi.

Spackling is really something I can't get the hang of, so I thought I'd ask for some tips/advice.

I'm going to spackle a few minor repairs (straight seams). I've looked around online, but none of them mention the use of fiberglass tape or something similar, which I thought was always used?

Best regards, Jimmy

Straight joints between drywall boards? In that case, you use paper strips, fiberglass was abandoned because it shears.

Here is an example of what they look like.
This one is 130*110mm

  • A cut-out in a white wall panel measuring 130x110mm with visible screws and a circular hole at the bottom.
What is the problem then? Just apply a paper strip and then skim coat a larger area.

Jojo, they make it sound so easy. But I never get them smooth.
Regardless of the type of strip, they don't mention any when I search online.

Cut down the edge like a v so that filler can properly fill the space before filling, taping, filling *2.

Are strips really necessary when it's such a small piece that needs to be plastered?
