I have plastered a partition wall with a visible outer corner and now need to putty it - I'm wondering how to handle the cut edges at the outer corner.

See drawing, all meeting edges are cut, no bevel. There will be corner profiles in the corners which will also cover the seams, but what I'm wondering is whether I should either:

1. Bevel the boards (blue line), apply tape, putty, sand, and then apply the corner profile and putty again?

or:

2. Apply the corner profile directly and putty thereafter?

or:

Something else?

The second option would be clearly easier since it is already a nice corner as the drywall is placed, but I assume I have to putty the seam before the corner profiles go up, and in turn, that means I should bevel it.

  • Drawing of a corner in a drywall installation with intersecting cut edges. Corner profiles are shown for alignment, marked with red arrow and lines.
Option two will be good if you use plåtprofil

It can probably be glued directly on, so it would be the same advice to just putty afterwards.

I just tried that adhesive type, can't say I thought it was particularly good. It needs to be smooth underneath for the glue to work.

Instead, buy two metal profiles and screw them in place. Then spread filler towards the corner with a wide putty knife (25-30cm).

I agree sheet metal profile is both better and cheaper you just have to make sure to screw it well

Ok, thanks for the feedback! In that case, maybe I'll do so, it is therefore this one (or similar) you are referring to?

I usually use Norgips HS 29, it's available at hornbach (but in the drive-in) if that's where you usually shop.

I bought corner profile at jemochfix this summer, attached with adhesive and plastered for all I was worth (A total of 10 profiles 😅).
A small unfinished alcove with exposed wiring and a metal corner profile against beige drywall, construction materials visible on the floor.

In hindsight, screwing might have been better

It takes a lot of spackel but it's worth it.
