Hello!

We are in the process of building in a wardrobe in a bedroom here, but before we continue, I would like to check if the soundproofing will work in this room since we have discovered some gaps near the floor.

1) There is a manifold cabinet for underfloor heating between the walls. So it's mostly empty space and a metal door to the cabinet in part of the wall. This should lead to a lot of noise intrusion, right? I will, of course, cover the hole above the floor with plasterboard. But should I also fix the gap even if it will mostly be covered by the floor and the baseboard? How, if so? I have no ideas.

2) There is a gap in the wall between two rooms due to the absence of a sill in part of the wall. The gap is also under the floor/baseboard, but I think it should be addressed? Or is it overkill? However, I don't know how to attach plasterboard since it's also too deep/big for sealant. Maybe some kind of foam?

Feel free to share any tips on materials that work! :)

  • Building site with exposed wall and floor, showing gaps near the baseboard, wiring, and a wooden plank, possibly for soundproofing discussion.
  • Wall gap near floor with visible pipes and insulation; wooden board partially covering gap in a bedroom under renovation for soundproofing check.
  • A gap near the floor and wall with exposed space and damage, showing potential issues with soundproofing in a bedroom under renovation.
