Hi,
Perhaps a dumb question, but we've had some issues with the water, and I decided to chisel away the joint around the water pipe and was met with a sharp odor like a solvent... When I asked those who renovated the floor, they said it's the concrete that smells. I questioned this, but was told it's primer that smells strong and it can linger for several years.

I find this sounding suspicious...
If it's not that, what material could they have used that smells like this?

Edit: the floor was laid about 4 years ago. But no one has lived in the residence.

Regards,
Stefan
