Hi.
We live in a house from the 70s.
In our backyard, we have our children's bedrooms. From our bedrooms to the property line with our neighbors, we have about 8 meters.
There, our neighbor has set up a trampoline, and their children jump and scream late into the evening, about 11 PM every night.
The screaming children wake our children.
We've talked to the neighbor, but they refuse to recognize the problem, that they wake a 9-month-old baby every night.
So we spent a lot of money now to add insulation to the house.
The carpenters removed the old insulation as it was bad.
They reframed and installed 1 DM thick insulation (isover g3 touch), and replaced the entire facade with new materials.
The house looks great, but we still hear the screaming children just as much as before
.
Now we're becoming desperate and don't know how to make the bedrooms quieter
.
Anyone who might have a suggestion for a solution as the neighbor doesn't listen to us even though we've talked to them several times.
Regards

Sounds like incredibly unsympathetic neighbors, the simplest solution is to try to quiet the children, but I understand the challenge.
Have you managed to identify where the sound is coming in? Often windows and vents are the weak points regarding sound and the walls you have already fixed according to what I understand.

Can't you switch the child's bedroom during summer vacation? I agree that screaming children at 11 PM is not okay, but sometimes you have to be pragmatic.
Ps. In 5-6 years, you buy a trampoline. Revenge is sweet.

Check if you have ventilation holes in the wall facing that direction. There are soundproof ones you can replace them with, or alternatively, close the ventilation during the time the neighbor's children are noisy.
We have our ventilation facing the neighbor's property on one side, where they have a jacuzzi. About 5 meters from our house. It can be heard inside when the ventilation is open. When I close it, it's quiet.
Best regards,
Andreas

We have new 3-pane windows.
We understand that children play as we live in an area with quite a lot of families with children.
But it's not just ordinary children's play.
They have, on several occasions, kicked balls at our bedroom windows.
When we talk to the parents, they just say that kids are kids.
The children have damaged our other neighbor's cars.
We are now planning to build a noise barrier towards the neighbor, but we don't know how much it will help.

Noise barriers I see as pointless. There are often limitations on how large and extensive barriers can be built. Against balls, a barrier might partially help.
Unfortunately, it becomes two or more opinions opposing each other. The parents of the jumping children do not see the children's activities as a problem. Your comments may possibly only reinforce their opinion that the children should be allowed to be outside and play now during the summer break.

I have tried to locate where the sound is coming from.
It feels like a lot of the sounds are coming from the wall. Echoes in the wall.
We have slot vents above the window that I have closed, but I think they need to be insulated, tips?
.
Thanks for all the great answers

You probably have a difficult problem here. It doesn't seem easy to get better soundproofing in a room. Children's screams are usually considered something that neighbors have to tolerate. Of course, they are not allowed to throw balls or other things onto your property, but it's probably difficult to eliminate that completely in practice. Probably the best solution is to make an adjustment and let a light-sensitive child sleep in a room that faces a different direction.
Haha, one of the best tips so far
We have also considered wall absorbers to reduce the sharp high sounds a bit.
You seem to have neighbors without sense. If they don't want to adapt, it will be difficult to force them to. The most important thing then is to ensure that you experience as little stress as possible because of this. Place the baby in your bedroom if it helps, and then try to put the neighbor trouble beside you without getting upset about it.
Then, of course, there are a few other things you can do. If the ball lands in your yard, they are not allowed to come in to retrieve it, and no one says you have to throw it over the fence the same evening; if you do it in the morning, it's quick enough. Then it's a good idea to water the lawn in the evening, and it's not always possible to avoid the sprinkler also spraying on the neighbor's lawn. Not so fun to jump on a wet trampoline.

Good post. But what kind of kids do you know that don't jump if the trampoline is wet? Here they've jumped in both rain and stormy weather. Not a single kid has refused to jump because of the weatherharry73 said:
But if they scream too much, they have to go inside.
