Hi, I'm having some trouble describing my question in the title.

But I have a wall that I've half sawed down (vertically); the idea is that it will become a bar table.
The existing hole joins with the old door frame, which is no longer a door frame, and there will not be any door.

I don't want any trims around, so I'm wondering what would be the best way to solve this. Is it best to put plasterboard on the 'inside' of the sawed-out hole, i.e. the side that would have supported the door, and then plaster the sides of the wall to make it straight?
Or should I use MDF? Someone told me that you should have steel on the inside since the plaster is so fragile. But that seems odd?

So I don't want any trims; instead, the hole and the wall should 'blend together'.

Best regards

Of your suggestions, I believe in MDF or metal brackets. Just drywall will look ugly after a while, I think.

Thank you for the response.
Can the steel angles be made to blend in, as you don't want the transition between wall and sheet/mdf to be visible?

Are there better alternatives?
