Hello.
We have bought a summer house and we want to create a more open floor plan.
In the current living room, there is a fireplace that has a wall construction around it that helps support the ceiling beams. The fireplace is a bit misplaced, so we want to remove it and make the room completely open. We only have 210 cm in ceiling height, so we don't think glulam will work as it would require a height that we don't believe would work.
Instead, we are considering a steel beam but don't know how to size it.
In the picture, you can see what we are planning and how the ceiling looks, etc.
We live in Karlsborg, Västergötland.
How do I proceed with the sizing?

It will be quite a significant intervention in the load-bearing structure when both the heart wall, chimney, and previous outer wall need to be removed. Just as well to do it properly and consult with a structural engineer on how it can be most effectively resolved.
