Hello Forum,

I live in a townhouse with 1.5 floors + attic.

I will be tearing down two different walls that are 5m and 4m long respectively (these walls are about 5m apart).
Foundation construction - slab on grade.
Since we have a ceiling height of 240cm, I don't want to build down too much unnecessarily, hence the choice of a steel beam.

Can any kind soul help me calculate what type of beam is needed?
I welcome advice from everyone, but since the beams will replace load-bearing walls, I'd appreciate help from someone who knows ;)

Thanks in advance :)

Then you need to provide the forum with some facts, not least a floor plan, but preferably a section as well. I understand your views regarding the height, but it is not entirely unproblematic to introduce steel beams into a wooden structure. Save that decision for a bit later.
