should one consider anything when choosing a ceiling molding?

Leaning towards it's time to purchase a ceiling molding.

Do you have any advice on this by any chance? something simple, small, and discreet.

Just take the first one available? buy samples and bring them home to see in reality?
buy extra large? well, I don't know what to consider...
