I have just started investigating what is required to renovate the attic in the garage and I feel lost with the pros and cons of whether I should add an extra floor joist between my roof trusses to get down to cc600, i.e., parallel to the truss attached to the wall plates. Or if I should instead place noggings perpendicular to the trusses with cc600.

Regardless, both solutions provide cc600, but is there one of these methods that is preferable? Or is it six of one and half a dozen of the other, perhaps depending on which direction you want to lay the floorboards later :-)

Can the trusses handle the load?

Spontaneously, it feels like extra floor joists are the right way to go.
