Can I get tips for attaching posts to L-brackets - I have built a stand area for garbage bins using L-brackets. Now I want to build a privacy screen with vertical wooden slats that will be attached to the outside of the bracket's surfaces - can I drill directly into the L-brackets and attach the support posts for the construction to the brackets? What should I consider? Grateful for tips and advice.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

It should work perfectly fine to drill through and attach posts with through bolts and nuts.

What "traps" might there be? Could the support have reinforcement? Crack?

A factory-made L-support is likely to have reinforcement..

Is it possible to know where the reinforcement is located? Do you really have to drill all the way through the support and secure with a nut? Can't you use some anchoring compound or plug? It seems like a tough job to drill all the way through the support.

Here's how it turned out!

  • Wooden privacy screen on concrete wall outside, with a yellow house in the background and construction tools on the ground.
  • A wooden fence with house number 5, adorned with a green wreath, stands in front of a yellow house on a cloudy day.
