We have clapboard on the house and last winter we got a lot of mice. We think they are coming in under the house's siding. Can you put a board at the bottom, or will that ruin the entire ventilation of the house? I was thinking of installing an angle strip but it's hard to find one with small holes that mice can't get through.

There should already be a horizontal rule quite far down behind the panel. Check where the nails on the covers are located.

I have nailed "musebandet" (Google on musstopp) to the lowest lath where the clapboard is also nailed, no problems so far. Air can pass through. Alternatively, try attaching mouse brushes or a kind of special steel wool to prevent mice.

When I replaced the panel on the house, I didn't use "musband". The neighbor, however, used nail bands, directly on the end grain.

How do you attach nail bands to the end grain?

We placed mounting tape that was as wide as the panel. We secured it with short screws with larger heads.
