Hi, a total novice trying to get my apartment in order: I have very ugly thresholds at home but especially in the bathroom where there are small cracks/gaps in the wood, surely a paradise for any possible silverfish and such, but I would like to seal them. Can I use regular wood glue? We're talking small cracks but still noticeable to the eye. It would also be nice to touch up this threshold since it is white, but I'm worried about painting in the "wrong" white color so that it looks really odd.

But my primary question is, can I seal a wooden threshold with wood glue?

Plastic padding or plastic wood is probably better than glue. The cracks in the threshold will likely shrink over the next six months as indoor humidity increases and wood increases in volume. Then something elastic is better than stiff glue.

For regular silverfish to thrive, it must be humid. If it's humid in the threshold, you probably have worse problems than small cracks.

Wood glue cannot be used as filler. It does not fill a space.
