Do you want the wooden lid to look the same from the outside? I would say the best way to protect the cushions is to place corrugated metal with a slight outward slope on the lid and a bit of overhang. Then leave the sides and bottom as they are. But that changes the appearance quite a bit. I have seen solutions with some type of plastic floor mat on the lid. That can also work. But there must be overhang.M Förstagångsköparen said:
It's difficult to make a box completely waterproof. And should you somehow succeed, the cushions will never dry if they're a bit damp when you put them in. The worst possible outcome is that there are small leaks in the almost sealed box. Staple holes, seams, or around the lid, for example. Then small amounts of water can get in. But it can't be ventilated out.
My advice is to seal the lid from the outside. Possibly also seal the sides. That can possibly be done from the inside. But definitely do not attempt to seal the bottom.
