Replaced an old exterior door yesterday that was in place before the house's facade was plastered, and the plaster overlapped the old door frame.

After adjusting the new door, unfortunately, there is a ~1cm gap between the outside of the frame and the plaster (see picture, the old door might not have been perfectly straight).

How can I best get rid of the gap between the frame and the painted plaster?

Gap between new door frame and painted plaster wall. Gap between new door frame and painted plaster wall, showing a 1cm space due to misalignment, highlighting renovation issue.

If possible, drive, then a suitable seal that absorbs movement and meets outdoor requirements.

If the gap is deep, use a backer rod, then outer sealant

I've seen that sometimes sand is applied to the joint right after grouting, then any paint adheres well and becomes more like the plaster.

Thank you for the answers! I was wondering how it works to grout against plaster since it is relatively porous.

Is there a specific type of grout I should look for?

Have seen it, for example on facade joints at my in-laws who live in a relatively newly built apartment.
Here bostic mentions it, [link]
well. we should not use isocyanates. (y)
there is an acrylic product with sand in it, but not available in Sweden as far as I've seen
