Tried to set up curtain brackets in the new apartment and when it was slow with a regular drill, I switched to a hammer drill. But now the bit is stuck in the wall. I've been trying for an hour to get it out. I'm panicking because it's stuck like a rock. :worried:

  • Drill bit stuck in a wall corner above a window frame.
Tried hammering with a hammer?

It's probably wedged against a rebar.

Do you mean the side of the bit or inward?
Tried a bit with pliers and it rotates both ways anyway

Tap a little in the back and then try pulling

Can pinch quite hard but just try to jiggle it out.

Ps. For a pair of curtains, it feels a bit overkill in size but it doesn't help you now, sorry but maybe for the next hole.

Get help next time. You've drilled with a diameter that's much too large and insanely deep.

Thanks for the help! Got out the "big" bit (5 mm). The anxiety has lifted!

Right drill but drilled a little deep then, check the packaging of the plug for the drill depth. Just put a piece of tape on the drill so you know how far to go in. Usually, you don't need such long screws when plugging into concrete. Rock on!

If it happens again, another (stupidly obvious) tip is to put the machine in reverse, if there is one. But if you unfortunately end up right at the edge of a reinforcing bar, it can be game over and may end with the drill eventually breaking.
