I have bought a cabin with a started extension. The cabin is log-built, and the facade of the extension consists of fake logs. The construction has been on pause for a few years. Now we are going to resume building. Gaps of 0-5 mm have appeared between the fake logs. Do these boards need to be brought together, or can it be fixed from the inside? Or can it just be left as it is?
It is inevitable that the timber will move, so just let it be.
Some type of air gap and wind/moisture barrier on the inside is appropriate, so that penetrating water does not reach the insulation.
