The sheet metal flashing was leaking water around the uninsulated chimney pipe to an old-fashioned Husqvarna warmvind (kerosene heater).

It was sealed by a tinsmith with a rubber boot, see attached image.

How heat resistant are these boots and what could the expected lifespan be estimated at? Does the adhesive last as long?

It is the only heat source in the vacation home that is used during really cold seasons.

  • Rubber gasket sealing a metal chimney pipe on a roof, with visible screws and nearby water bottle. Surrounding roof tiles and greenery are in the background.

Hm, am I perhaps in the wrong forum with this question? I need to understand if it is OK to use a gummi stos to seal against a hot chimney pipe. So that they are not only suitable for bathroom ventilation and similar cold pipes.

All help is appreciated!

hardly approved, the damask gets damaged so that sparks can come down and cause a fire

Should I make a complaint about the job to the sheet metal company then?
