We are going to build an entrance and need a round post to support one corner. The dimension should be 290 cm * approx. 30 cm. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to use? I got a price of 5000:- for a turned post and that was not quite what I expected. I immediately thought of a telephone pole. Does anyone know where you can buy those in the Stockholm area? Found a post about this with a link that didn't work.
You should definitely not aim for a telephone pole because it is treated with poison that you may come into contact with if you touch it.
You should also not have a log turned. It will crack in the sapwood and look miserable after a few years.
It's best to build a circular cross-section with sawn/beveled 45x45 studs of spruce (or other wood) that you glue together into a pipe with a diameter of 30 cm. Then you can also get length joints and stability against twisting, and it won’t crack as easily because the surface is limited to each stave.
To glue it together, you need clamps with tension straps. Then you should act like a cooper does, raising one stave at a time, but here it should be on a fixed surface and only a couple of staves glued at a time. A circular disc with an internal dimension (30 cm - 2x stave thickness) at each end and one in the middle makes the assembly easier for you. And do it in two halves and glue them together last.
Or ask a wood tube manufacturer to make it for you. It can be both straight and conical and you can get decorations on it as you want with capitals and everything. Check here, for example.

I will check with Boxholm. Do you know of anyone else who makes trärör?
Not off the top of my head, but Google wooden poles, wooden tubes, wooden masts or ask a mast builder, e.g., those who made the masts for Götheborg or the schooner under construction at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm.
