I'm renovating the kitchen and have removed all the tiles, the wall is obviously not in good condition now, but we want a painted wall without tiles.
How do I best achieve a nice smooth wall? Gypsum is not an option.

Welcome to the forum!

Not even renovation gypsum that is 6 mm thick?

If the damages are too large for regular filler, you can repair the wall with husfix. After that, you have to decide whether to wide-fill and sand everything or just fill smaller damages to, after sanding, put up renovation wallpaper.

That doesn't look so bad. Sand, putty, paint. But do you really want a painted wall in the kitchen? It's completely useless.
