Good Evening.

I am currently in the process of stripping an entire room of old tretex and will be putting up drywall instead... but now to the question.

Some new electrical outlets/network outlets and a lamp outlet above the window or window spots need to be installed. And I have the following options:

* Strip all the raw wood planks and run flexible conduit in the studs, and I can even add insulation in the walls for sound, and a new OSB board has fewer seams and such, which could prevent accidentally nailing in the future.

* Alternatively, route/groove the walls and install renovation boxes/senildosor, which might be cheaper but somehow the first option feels safer.

How would you have done it? Mainly concerning the walls since the ceiling doesn't necessarily need raw wood planks.

  • Room under renovation with stripped wooden walls and ceiling, ladder visible, window on the right; part of a DIY project discussion.
Sure, records are nice, but it feels a bit wasteful if existing material can be used.

I would have kept the tretexen and routed the electrical conduits into them and placed gypsum on top.
Why remove the tretex boards? They work as both sound and thermal insulation.
