Hi
I need some help to see if it would be possible to replace the floor joists in our house. Currently, there is a joist made of spruce? (The house was built in 1930, extension 1940).
The length is at most 4.7 meters and CC is 60 cm.
To gain a little ceiling height in the basement (about 10 cm), we would like to "raise" the sill the joists are sitting on and replace it with a thinner beam. My hope is if someone can answer whether we could replace this spruce joist with 10 cm steel beams?
Would it be possible to use laminated timber columns 115x115 as joists? Smaller CC...
I will consult a constructor for more calculations, but I wanted to check first if you think this could work?
Thanks in advance
