Hello, I'm planning to repair the cracks in the house plinth. It's a basement and has cracked in all the corners of the house. How much do I need to remove before I can apply new mortar?

Does quick-setting cement work for this or should I choose something else?

Best regards

  • Crack in house foundation corner with loose debris on the ground; query about repair methods and materials like quick-setting cement.
  • A crack in a concrete house foundation beneath a brick wall, showing damage in a basement corner.
  • Container labeled "Fricks Snabbsten," 5 kg, placed on a wooden surface. Includes text about fast-setting cement for concrete, plaster, brick, stone, and more.
  • Cracked house foundation corner with visible damage and debris, surrounded by soil and small plants.
Has a similar base even if it's only 20-30cm, so I'm wondering too. 70s villa 1.5 stories. Should one dig a bit and lay cement?

Do you know why it's cracking?

If the plaster is attached, especially the corner pieces, it should be enough to chip up the crack a little, wet it gently and fill it with some regular mortar, it might seem.
