Renovate stairs. Cheaper steps?
Thinking about renovating our pine staircase to make it white and nice. But what about the steps? Something like Stepkit is super expensive. Is there a way to make it cheaper while still looking good and not being slippery? We're considering oak steps.

or glue the rug there and attach a strip like the one in the picture above at the front edge so that over time you don't end up tearing up the edge
Buy one from Trappfixaren, works great. I bought this:Joukko said:

Regarding glue, manufacturers of stair renovations often provide glue such as this http://lundbergs.com/trapprenovering/trappsteg___215.aspx?prodId=455&startId=0 Otherwise, go to the nearest hardware store, and they will help you.
Byggmax also has an MS-polymer based adhesive. http://www.byggmax.com/se-sv/byggvaror/farg-malning/vav-fog/lim-tillbehor/18014/super-7-all-in-one Available in 3 colors. Haven't tried it myself to see if it's adequate. Maybe someone else knows?
