We have a holiday home from 1979 where we will convert an insulated storage section into a kitchenette/bedroom.

On the walls, there are chipboards (1cm). I plan to freshen up the space with plasterboard and painted walls.

How should I approach plasterboard and screws;

  • Renovation plasterboard 6mm or 12.5mm?
  • Should I screw the plasterboard into the studs or can I just attach them as I want on the chipboards?
  • For the plasterboard screws, should I try to find 22mm or 20mm so they don’t go through the chipboard? It seems difficult to find anything smaller than 30mm

Personally, I prefer stdgips 1/2" and preferably 1200 wide panels to minimize seams.
Renoveringsgips might possibly be good if you don't want to remove moldings, for example, NORGIPS 900 panels, which are light and convenient to transport, carry in, and install.
