Renovate pine staircase, oak parquet. Tips, ideas?
I am working on a larger extension. Most of it is starting to get done. But among the last things I will do is renovate the second-hand staircase we bought to save some money. 3000 instead of 50000. However, the staircase is a "standard" villa staircase from the 70s-80s, lacquered pine.
My plan is to put the same parquet on the staircase as we will have in the rest of the new part of the house. Paint the stringers and risers white and put the parquet on the treads. Even though it's quite fiddly to get the treads exactly right, I think it will go pretty well. But what worries me is getting a nice connection between the treads and the stair nose.
The idea is to let the tongue of the parquet "stick out" over the tread and saw a matching "groove" on the stair nose. (luckily, I own a ts55) But can this look nice for a "relative" amateur? It's about getting precision to parts of a millimeter for it to look professional.
A quick idea I just got now, after browsing around here for a while and seeing someone who put anti-slip tape between the nose and the tread, is to instead caulk the joint between the tread and the nose. Would this work? I think it could look nice... And (relatively) simple?

Yes, they cost their weight in gold.
I glued laminate on our staircase edge to edge with the tread and a simple tile strip as a stair nosing. Unfortunately, the laminate became slippery and hence the anti-slip protection (+ it concealed small fitting mistakes).
