What is suggested for machine and chisel to remove plaster from old brick wall

Planning to repoint afterwards and have bricks visible in certain places

If you have compressed air, you can try a small demolition hammer. It's quite convenient to work with compared to an electric hammer drill or demolition machine. If it's old plaster, it will probably come off easily.

Common 2-kilo rotary hammer with chiseling function (like Bosch 2-24 D, Makita HR2470TF, or DeWalt D25013C) together with an angled spade chisel is the most effective method I've tested. Hilti makes a good spade chisel for this:

Hilti's chisel did indeed look good, but the advantage of compressed air is that the machine itself is light, small, and handy.
