Hi,
I live in a house from '69 with a foundation of blåbetong. There is a chimney which I do not know exactly how it is constructed, but on the ground floor there is both an oil burner and a fireplace insert connected. Before the insert was installed, I assume it was a regular open fireplace. Upstairs, there is an exhaust fan (bathroom) connected to the chimney stack. Now the oil burner is going to be thrown out and I wonder - can I simply seal the hole to the chimney? Can you do that, or will there be a "shaft" left that should have a cleaning hatch or something? One might imagine that otherwise birds, bats, and such could fall down and need to be cleaned out? :O The bathroom fan will also be removed eventually when the house gets FTX. Grateful if anyone has tips since I don't know a thing about chimneys
