I am going to move a couple of iron stable windows, which in their old position have been "sealed" all around the window with some kind of sealant that resembles soft licorice toffee. It's very sticky, and surely doesn't taste like licorice ;).

What could this sealant be, and most importantly - how do you remove it from the windows (and tools...)??

Old iron stable window with sticky, black sealant resembling soft licorice, partially removed, exposing the wooden frame.

Neger Toy, yes, it was called that before, I don't know its real name, it was what was used before tube sealants appeared.
It's probably just scraping and cutting away. To clean sticky tools, you'll probably need at least white spirit, maybe thinner.

Thank you! That was a truly PC term for the fogmassa! :wow: The fogmassa was applied sometime in the 1990s.

I'll try with white spirit or something similar and we'll see. And who knows, maybe even some linoljesåpa might do the trick?

does it smell like tar or something? If it's really oily, you can use the green degreaser, the one that's meant to dissolve asphalt stains and such on the car. It usually works on most things :)
