Currently decorating the upper floor in a house built in 1889.
The house is seven meters wide. Today, there is a beam above the living room that supports the joists. This rests on the foundation wall at both ends and supports three joists, so it is about 4.8m long.
This takes up too much height and needs to be addressed. Today it is only this, apart from the exterior walls, that supports the joist.
The entire floor needs to be leveled and adjusted, and the question is how to do it. The current idea is to install new joists or alternatively I-beams closer together and have them all attached to the joist to support it. The current beam is 175x175.
Since the beams in the living room ceiling are visible, it is easy to use through bolts such as carriage bolts.
Hopefully someone has a thought. Even though I have a pretty clear picture of how to do it, tips are always good. Many times, we complicate things more than necessary😉
What do you mean by fixing? Are the visible beams 7m long and hanging up on this 4.8m long beam that you want to fix? Spontaneously, the beam in the picture feels a bit weak if so... Has there been a furnished upper floor before?

That's correct, the visible beams are 7 meters and are hanging on this one. It has been partially furnished, but a long time ago, grain was stored up there. Yes, it is too weak, but it has managed for nearly 130 years.
My idea is to reduce the height a little but add more beams.
They usually hold, but I suppose it looks a bit like a banana
I would probably have placed some HEA parallel to the beam and hung up the sunken ones with bolts just as you wrote, and then removed the beam. Then you can inset the new floor joists and lay them on the HEA beam's lower flange. It's probably possible to create a new floor structure that doesn't build more than the existing beam if you can accept noise and a bit of flex due to the thin and light floor structure. To do this, you will probably need to submit a building notification to the municipality.
I have received help in calculating a beam. It will be an HEA 180.
This will replace the previous wooden beam and the framework will be integrated into the beam.
What I'm scratching my head over now is how to attach the transverse underlying beams most easily. Should I drill holes in the beam or put a bolt on each side of it and make clamps out of flat iron?
These beams will not be loaded by the new floor structure and should "just be held up."
I am attaching a picture of how it looks from underneath. In the picture, you can see the heads of the carriage bolts that go through the beam that is to be replaced.
