Hi!
I'm renovating a room in the basement. I'm putting up steel studs which will then have OSB board and then drywall. Should I use standard 13mm drywall or renovation drywall that is 6mm? The OSB boards are 900mm, as is the renovation drywall, is it better to use those so I can stagger the joints? What are the pros and cons of the drywall options I choose?

The renovation boards are easier to handle but more expensive than the standard boards. As far as I know, there's nothing that requires you to have one or the other... if it's tricky to get things down to the basement, I'd spend a bit extra on renovation boards, otherwise, I'd go for the standard boards... standard boards provide somewhat better fire protection, if that's an issue...

There are a bunch of threads about this. I don't think you should use organic boards against exterior walls either. What boards you choose also depends on your requirements regarding sound insulation and fire rating. Renovation plasterboard is not meant to build walls but rather to renovate walls.

Personally, I hate working with renovation plasterboard. Flimsy, harder to get smooth flat surfaces, and more difficult to screw.

I had chosen standard drywall, 13mm.
I did the same renovation as you in my basement just over a year ago.
* 200mm Isodrän externally,
* ventilated floor from granab,
* 45 steel studs
* 45 mineral wool
* OSB
* Drywall

I chose 13mm drywall for the following reasons:
Partly because steel studs are not as rigid in construction as wood studs, which is especially noticeable when you don't have boards on both sides of the studs. A standard board provides more stability than renovation drywall.
There is always a risk of some tin can noise or echo in a basement with steel studs and minimal insulation on the inside. A sturdier drywall is better acoustically.
It is more stable to hang things with standard drywall + OSB than with renovation drywall + OSB.

The joints should be staggered, which means you have to cut the first drywall board in half if you didn't cut the OSB board.
