Rebuild roof trusses in the attic

Hello,

I am planning to make use of the attic by building a room up there. I have a grasp on most aspects of this project except for the renovation of the roof trusses. They are currently of the truss type (W) and would need to be rebuilt to make the most of the attic space.

Does anyone have experience with this? How do you usually go about it? Should I renovate the existing trusses, or should I install new ones and then remove the old ones? Please feel free to share tips and ideas on how to tackle this issue.

I saw this slightly older post but thought I would ask anyway, how did it go? I'm thinking along the same lines and want to modify 2 roof trusses to create a small room in the attic.
