We need to raise the ceiling in our barn (the floor of the hayloft, which includes the lowest transverse part of the roof trusses. There are two transverse parts on the truss as the roof is a mansard roof, meaning with two different angles on the roof slope).
The building is about 11 meters wide and 32 meters long. Currently, the ceiling is at 2.20 (and the roof ridge is surely an additional 3 meters up) with concrete floors throughout the building and masonry walls. The beams (lower part of the truss) currently rest on/in these masonry walls and poles that are in the middle of the barn aisle, 5.5 meters from the outer wall, all along the 32 meters with about 3 meters between.
There will be horse stalls on both sides that are 3.5 wide and 4 deep. The aisle between them will be 3 meters. I do not want any poles here.
The ceiling should preferably be 2.6 meters or higher, meaning raised 40 cm+, but if it is significantly easier to raise it 20-30 cm, I would also like to hear those suggestions.
How do we do this in the easiest way? And how long does it usually take for a professional to do what you suggest? If you also have an idea of what lumber costs, a price indication would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
