We are renovating our kitchen, and when the kitchen company came to measure the kitchen, it was determined that the ceiling height was a bit tight in one area.

The intermediate floor between the kitchen and the upper floor consists of 45x220 beams (in a North-South direction), under which there are sparse 28x70 (East-West), and today some kind of plastic-coated chipboard. I plan to replace these boards with a wood panel ceiling, and I don't mind laying them crosswise against the 220 beams, simply removing the sparse beams.

Is this a bad idea, do they serve a function that I don't understand?
 
The function is for the 28x70 glesen to securely fit with a cc-measure of 30 cm. This is so the insulation can start to weigh down and cause the plastic-coated chipboard to sag. If you use wood paneling, it should work, but cc60 is not normal. I hope someone else comes with experience specifically with cc60, personally, I had cc45 which worked well.
 
1) The intermediate floor is not insulated.
2) You are probably right that the spacing is at cc30, after consulting the house plans... (I thought cc60 because the chipboard panels are 60 wide ...)
