Price difference wood-stone-plaster facade?
What is the price difference between the different house facades?
Considering between horizontal wood paneling (New England style), plastered facade, and "stone house" insulated block.
Planning to build a 1.5-story house of 170 m2 close to the sea, and with these stormy times, it might be worth investing in a different facade to get a "quieter" house, wooden houses do tend to make a lot of noise when it's windy!

Plastering vs horizontal wooden paneling
Maintenance of plastered facade
If you plaster the top layer with colored plaster, you never have to repaint the house... it's enough to just wash off the dust...
How often does a wooden house need painting?
A fully painted house should be repainted approximately every 5 to 10 years. Some sides of the house, such as the south side, may need painting more frequently than the north side.
- Plaster requires less maintenance than a wooden facade
- Plaster is more expensive
For our 161 m2 house, plastering costs an extra 300,000 SEK compared to horizontal paneling. Therefore, we chose to have horizontal paneling on the side building of 50 m2, which provides a saving of 120,000 SEK. Building a stone house instead of a plastered facade would cost approximately 609,000 SEK more.
Panel 3,046,000
Plastered facade 3,346,000
Stone house 3,955,000
