Hello. The spring feelings have started to settle in and I'm thinking about this year's spring project, a hammock. Since the apple trees are at least 15 years too young to support the hammock, I'm thinking of casting some "stylish" posts into the lawn. What do you think is required to make it stable and sturdy? Are there any convenient solutions with removable post shoes, like screwed into a cast-in-place anchor? Having the lawn level when the hammock is not in place would be nice. I'm looking at glulam posts with a 100 mm diameter. That should hold, right? I'm considering this type of hammock. https://www.hangmatta-och-mer.se/shop/la-siesta-flora-chilli/ What I'm wondering is: How deep do I need to dig? Dimension of pipe for casting? Which concrete? Which post shoes? (Are there detachable ones?)
Sorry to say it but I would rather have bought a stand. It can be moved to the sunniest spot in the garden and also moved when you need to mow the lawn.
Here's one way to do it, because I don't think you'll find any joist hangers or similar that will hold. Dig an 80cm deep hole, barely 40cm in diameter, fill with a few cm of macadam. Insert a 110mm drainage pipe for example https://www.hornbach.se/shop/Markror-DN-110-Langd-100cm-SN4/267298/artikel-detaljer.html cast with 2-3 bags of coarse concrete/hole. When you're not using the holes, plug them so they don't fill with debris. Then it's about finding a suitable post to fit into the hole. Note: This is not something I've done myself, but I have several smaller holes (70mm) with the same principle, for bird feeding, drying racks, and sun sails. These I've had for several years and they work excellently
The hammock is approved for 200 kg of playful children.
The pole needs to be about 3 m above the ground so that the hammock does not drag on the grass.
There will be a lot of moment in the pole and its foundation. Is an 80 cm hole sufficient?

I've attached mine at chest height between two apple trees in the garden, works well. I've also anchored a sail shade to each of the trees and an old parasol base in the ground.
