Plastering an interior wall

Hello,

I'm getting some craftsmen over tomorrow to check on a potential job to plaster the wall. To have some knowledge when we talk, I wonder if there's anything specific to consider when plastering an interior wall? For example, type of mortar, if it needs after-treatment in any way to remove any lime? How long might it take (around 8sqm) etc etc

I'm planning to just have the wall as is, i.e., just plastered without wallpaper and such.

You should probably explain what results you want, it can make a big difference if they use traditional putty (grayish surface) or gypsum plaster (white surface) and how they finish the surface. If you know how you want it to look, it's best to explain carefully, so you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the response. Yes, it's not easy to decide, but I think I'll go with plaster but with a really rough surface.

Should it be treated afterwards considering it contains plaster? So it doesn't release dust, etc? Some kind of primer?

Gypsum gipsputs probably doesn't require any direct after-treatment, maybe other brands don't either. It's not like sand falls off or anything when you touch it, as can happen with cement plaster. I have a chimney breast that has been untreated for several years. It was bright white for a long time, but now it might start to look a bit duller after several years of wear.
