Hello.

I have a wall in the basement where there used to be a garage door. The door has been bricked up but needs plastering. However, the old door is plastered almost 3cm inward from the rest of the wall. The question is whether it's possible to plaster this so I can tile the wall afterward, and if so, how? Or will the plaster be too thick? I would prefer not to frame the wall since it's the basement... I don't know what type of paint is on the wall, a blue matte paint, not plastic paint. It was probably painted when they built the sauna, which has been removed today.

  • Close-up of a blue painted basement wall showing a measuring tape indicating a 3cm indentation.
  • A partially plastered blue basement wall with exposed concrete blocks, indicating an old garage door area. Tools and wood planks are visible on the floor.
I also wonder what to level a lecamur with if you intend to tile? Do you use regular plaster? Or is there a more sophisticated ceramic leveling compound?

I was thinking B-bruk. But then I realized that I might need to knock down all the existing bruk in that case?

Looks exactly like plastic paint, have you tested it?
I would have sanded down the paint, then netted and felled twice with rendering mortar, then it works.

Hmm it is not at all like the plastic paint I had in the other room. Matte and doesn't "hold together". How do I test it?

I would have sanded down the paint, then used mesh and applied two coats of plaster, that would work.
Agree with you

Already applied 2 layers of plaster, thanks anyway :)
